Netflix's " Damsel " Movie Non-Spoiler Review:

Damsel: A Gem of Performances Amidst Trailer Spoilers"

source: Netflix'

Great fairy tale spoiled in its entirety with a single trailer. "Damsel" is a unique movie that cannot be categorized as good or bad; also, it doesn't have deep insight to unravel. It's a simple tale, and its entirety is shown in the trailer.

The good:
I meant to say the entire cast played extraordinarily, but it doesn't have scope to get any performances apart from Millie Bobby Brown and did justice to the character.

I've noticed growth in her performance, and this is the most mature performance from her. The plot itself is thin, but I loved how it spread across the runtime.

CGI at the reveal of the dragon is amazing, and they went with a different design for the dragon, making it unique.
As I said, there are not many character developments in the movie, but I loved the performances of all the main cast with what little they offered.
The arc of her father, accepting her stepmother, and Robin Wright commanded her performance.

The bad:
There is nothing to spoil the movie; every single detail is already spoiled by the makers through trailers.
Every epic scene is already in the trailer, so instead of appreciating the scenes, I'm waiting for the moment to play which I've already seen in the trailer.
So, I missed the anticipation of what comes next. Don't get me wrong; I can see the effort put into making such an epic movie, and every performance is amazing, but I already knew how it plays apart from the climax.

The father's arc isn't earned, but they did wonders with the stepmother's little character, and that puzzled me. CGI is mostly questionable in the beginning; it's clearly visible as been on screen but it got a lot better with time.
I'm most dissatisfied with the plot inside the cave; I've expected too much from it, but it disappointed me.

Overall:
Is "Damsel" binge-worthy? A definite yes from me; I enjoyed it for what it is. Maybe my expectations let me down, but not the movie. I've totally loved the performances across the board, and the plot and twists work in the world, and I'm entertained.
