NETFLIX'S "The Sandman" Non-spoiler Review:

Image
The Sandman is a unique take on fantasy with intriguing world-building and an amazing cast. Source: Netflix THE PLOT: Morpheus, the king of the dream world, is in search of a nightmare.  Unfortunately, he travels to our world and is captured by Roderick Burgess, an occultist who mistakenly takes Morpheus for Death.  In captivity, he loses his tools, and most of the story revolves around recovering them and handling Rose, a teenager cursed with the power to either destroy or save worlds.  Other players are at play, aiming to unite both worlds, and a rogue nightmare with threatening powers forms the story of Sandman. It is much more complicated than that, but this is the basic idea. THE GOOD: I couldn't imagine any other actor than Tom Sturridge as Dream, and the casting is amazing; nothing felt out of place.  The world-building is impressive, and the escaped nightmare is a one-of-a-kind, creepy-looking concept. It's just a normal human, but you'll see when...

. "Rebal Moon: A Galactic Odyssey Hits and Misses.  Source: NETFLIX "Rebal Moon" is a movie aimed at rewriting Star Wars and overtaking the space war, but its execution falls short of the mark. THE PLOT:   Cora, an exiled soldier, lives on the moon and assists a local village in farming.  The ruling Mother World, which governs the galaxy, pays a visit and establishes an outpost for their soldiers to monitor the crops needed to feed their troops.  With soldiers stationed at the outpost and their behavior making war inevitable, Cora tries to suppress her feelings and desires to escape but finds herself unable to.  She must fight for the people and assemble an army to resist the invasion. This forms the premise of the movie. THE GOOD:   Cora, played by Sofia Boutella, delivers a commendable performance, fitting the role perfectly. After seeing her in many negative roles, she doesn't come across as an odd choice by any means. The fight scenes shown i...

NETFLIX'S "MESSIAH" Non-Spoiler review:

Image
"Messiah: A Spiritual Enigma or a Screenplay Struggle?" source: NETFLIX "Messiah" presents a unique blend of religious and atheistic themes in a thought-provoking series. The Plot:   A C.I.A. agent investigates a person claimed to be the Messiah, whose miracles garner a growing following. The narrative explores whether these miracles are genuine or part of an elaborate con. The Good:   The ensemble cast delivers justice to their characters, with no standout performances but also no glaring flaws.  The intriguing concept of the Second Coming is well-established in the pilot, and the plot effectively navigates between belief and skepticism. The writers adeptly create counterarguments, adding depth to the narrative. The Bad:   The screenplay falters, wandering without a clear direction. Even when keeping a character mysterious, a coherent narrative should be maintained, which the series lacks.  The pacing feels slow, dragging a potentially 5-episode st...

Disney+ "SHE HULK" Series Spoiler Review:

Image
"She-Hulk: A Green Tide of Disappointment Sweeps the MCU" credit: MARVEL She-Hulk introduces a character named Abomination, but sadly, the series itself feels like an abomination within the MCU.  My sentiments about it have grown since the initial trailer, where the hate and criticism initially targeted She-Hulk's CGI but were later overshadowed by glaring issues with the writing. The Plot:   The narrative lacks substance, as the writers seemingly respond to critics, undermining the MCU's integrity.  The real plot involves Jennifer Walters, cousin to Bruce Banner, undergoing a car accident where Bruce's blood transforms her into She-Hulk. Despite the intriguing premise, numerous plot problems emerge. Issues with the Plot: Bruce casually attempts suicide, spits out a bullet, and She-Hulk masters her powers effortlessly, raising questions about the treatment of Hulk's character.  The speed at which She-Hulk controls her emotions, compared to Bruce...

THE GOOD:   Alaqua Cox's portrayal of Maya Lopez is a standout, perfectly embodying the character.
