NETFLIX'S " The Irregulars" series Non-Spoiler Review:

Irregulars presents a unique perspective on the detective narrative in Victorian England, offering a bold and creative approach.

THE PLOT:

A group of misfits collaborates to investigate supernatural crimes for Dr. Watson, a familiar character. Credit to the writers for thinking outside the box; typically, in Sherlock Holmes stories, we suspend belief in the supernatural because Holmes ultimately reveals a natural explanation.

Bea, an orphan, takes on a job from Watson to solve child murders, leading to twists and turns that ultimately unveil a connection to her mother.

THE GOOD:

The rich sets and CGI breathe life into Victorian England; every set is meticulously crafted, seamlessly immersing viewers in the story.

Thaddea Graham, portraying Bea, embodies the character flawlessly, complemented by well-crafted costumes.

The ensemble cast delivers performances that align seamlessly with their characters, and the supernatural aspects of the show prove intriguing, piquing my interest.

THE BAD:

The extended runtime poses a challenge, with prolonged revelations and a slow buildup, resulting in a somewhat boring impact.

While the plot is a fantastic idea on paper, its execution may be lacking—perhaps the underutilization of legacy characters like Sherlock and Dr. Watson, or clues and twists that fail to generate excitement.

Personal preference may play a role, but the series felt somewhat tedious for me.

OVERALL:

Is Irregulars binge-worthy? Perhaps, especially if you have an interest in the Victorian era, Sherlock Holmes, and supernatural elements. It's a one-time watch, recommended for those intrigued by the premise.

However, if better options are available, they might be worth exploring. In conclusion, I have no regrets completing the series, though certain aspects could benefit from improvement.

I did find enjoyment in watching it.
